Bankruptcy Trends Highlights
G2 Risk Solutions reported 49,270 total bankruptcy files for April 2025. This month’s numbers reflect a 2.5% increase from March 2025 and a 17.43% jump over April 2024.
Total bankruptcy filings across all chapters in 2025 have risen by 10.48% compared to the same period in 2024. Notably, April filings broke from the pattern seen in recent years—where filings typically dipped from March—and instead aligned more closely with pre-pandemic seasonal trends. This shift may signal a return to more traditional filing behaviors following several years of volatility.
April 2025 marks the highest monthly total in 60 months, showing a return to pre-pandemic patterns.
Chapter 7 Filings Hit 57-Month High
Chapter 7 filings in 2025 are up 35.02% year-to-date compared to 2024. March saw the highest monthly total in nearly five years, surpassing all months since May 2020’s peak of 31,750 filings.
While April filings remain 28% below 2019 levels, they’ve climbed 39% over April 2022—the lowest April in the past eight years—indicating a strong rebound.
Chapter 13 Filings Continue to Climb
Strong activity in March and April 2025 has pushed year-to-date Chapter 13 filings 12.22% above 2024 levels. April also ranked as the 6th highest month for Chapter 13 filings since March 2020, signaling continued momentum in consumer-driven cases.
New Feature: Instantly Confirm POC Filings
After approving a Proof of Claim (POC) filing, users can now head to the “Search POC Records” page for quick confirmation. If the court has assigned a claim number, it will appear next to the filed status—making it easy to verify filings immediately.
Cadet DEM Now Shows Last Update Timestamp
A new enhancement to the Cadet DEM UI now displays the exact date and time of the most recent data loaded. This gives users real-time insight into how current the event data is—ensuring greater transparency and confidence in the information.
Never Miss an Event with the Default Workflow Team
The Default Workflow Team in DEM acts as a safety net, automatically capturing any events not routed to a specific team. To ensure full event coverage, simply create a team—naming it something like “Default Workflow Team” – and assign at least one member. Set it up under the Manage Teams section to maintain complete visibility and prevent anything from slipping through the cracks.
Control DEM Event Flow
Yes, you can toggle specific event types in DEM—but we recommend keeping all event types ON in your subscription. Instead, use workflow settings to control routing by team. This way, any unconfigured events are automatically caught by your Default Workflow Team, ensuring nothing is missed.
